Additional Medicare Premium

Well over 90% of those who are on Medicare pay the standard premium. Above specified income thresholds, however, the monthly payment goes up. Crossing a threshold by a single dollar can boost the total annual amount you pay by roughly $1,500 – double that if married filing jointly and both on Medicare. Use this information if you’re on Medicare and have income (including tax-exempt interest) that may exceed $90,000 (or $180,000 on a joint return).
