Friday demos at Playmoweb
The organic growth of a company involves adapting its organization so that it meets new expectations. Playmoweb did not escape these questions and we had to think about how to respond to new issues by drawing inspiration from the experiences of each of the people making up the team.
The early genetic heritage
When we were relatively few, it was easy to keep abreast of the nature of the different projects, the progress and difficulties of each. We didn't really need to frame these exchanges, they were done naturally within a core of people. In a few years, the size and heterogeneity of the team dedicated and the projects have increased. The increase in teleworking time brought about by health measures has changed the volume and nature of inter-project and inter-business exchanges.Where 4 developers were discussing native development among themselves on a few projects, a way had to be found to keep this emulation between the different professions of a team that has tripled in size, and this on work of very different natures.
A DNA to be modeled
The challenge here is to continue to learn and inform about the progress of projects, to maintain an emulation of ideas between teams, to optimize problem solving and software testing to keep the good atmosphere that characterizes Playmoweb. After a few tests of not always very satisfactory formats, we wanted to take up and adapt to our needs and our desires, a format that some of us had already experimented with. After some discussions between us, Edouard was able to simply formalize a first version of this new format, he was then able to present it to everyone during the first edition of what is now called and in a very original way: The Friday demo.
A new discreet gene
For adoption to happen naturally, it is best to avoid imposing unnecessary constraints. Whether face-to-face or teleworking, everyone is free to choose their subject (tech, management, design, etc.) and their support (functional demo, presentation slides, etc.).To give a few examples, our designer Solène can show her progress on the models of one of our future projects and collect initial feedback, Thibaud can show us the main lines of the software developers company on which he worked during the week, Scot can present us a new image recognition framework and Thanina explain the job of a new client who wants to work with us.We had a legitimate fear of seeing too much time wasted by everyone in the preparation and presentation of these demos and therefore chose this one time constraint: 5 minutes of presentation followed by 5 minutes of questions. This constraint makes it possible to limit the time dedicated to these exchanges under 2 hours, which is very satisfactory in view of the observed benefits.
A welcome development
This short discussion time allows everyone to value their work while informing all people about the progress of a project.Beyond the personal gratification of having been able to show all of our work and to be congratulated for it, it is really pleasant to see that everyone contributes to everyone's success by bringing their touch of expertise to our clients' projects!Question time is also essential to have a variety of opinions, questions allowing us to take a step back on our work and contributions from colleagues who have a fresh outlook or who have already encountered a given problem.By remaining very discreet in its constraints, by continuing to infuse a light and relaxed atmosphere, this weekly meeting very quickly established itself as a team ritual, an informal but fun parenthesis in the life of our company.
Leave a message on a QR Code
Playmoweb is not just a Web and mobile app development agency. We also design innovative projects.QR That allows you to post messages, view them and interact with other users from a QR Code.
The application is divided into 2 parts:
The Web application that allows you to administer your QR Codes: Create your QR Code, download it, designate a place and a title. The mobile application which allows you to flash the QR Code, view messages and post new ones. But also receive a notification if another person has left a message on it. This application aims to evolve to bring new features. There is currently the Android application available on Google Play. The iPhone application is in progress. QR That is in beta, you can request it directly on the site.
Design guidelines iOS and Android
The excellent MBASS ( Mobile Backend as a Service ) Kinvey has just uploaded a cheat sheet concerning the ui/ux design guidelines of Android and iOS, we can notice a certain number of common points as well as the main differences in densities and sizes of 'screens.
