This year I received two MRDs. Massachusetts exempts most all retirement income however not IRA’s. I assume the TSP is an IRA by another name. Everyone in Mass
with income over 8K must file a Mass Tax Return. I am over the 8K for TY2019 since I received my MRD for 2018 and 2019 in 2019. The MRDs are the only income that would be taxable for 2019. For TY2020 I will be below the 8K since I will receive only one MRD in that year so I assume I will not need to file for TY2020.
    Am I correct on this?

Google tells me that the TSP is the federal govt equivalent of a 401K, not an IRA. Does that change things?
