IRMAA & American Health Care Act
Posted by: mur44, May 7, 2017 06:21PM
Is IRMAA being eliminated as part of the just
passed repeal and replace act known
as American Health Care Act?

Extract from the act:

"Repealing ACA taxes, including the increased Medicare tax; the health insurer tax; and the
medical device tax, among others (effective at the end of 2016)"

The bill has passed the House, and still has to be passed by the Senate. It appears unlikely the Senate will pass it before making many changes.

There is nothing in the bill that affected IRMAA.

The 0.9% Medicare surtax was repealed.

The 3.8% Net Investment Income tax was repealed.

A variety of other taxes were repealed.

As Art said, this barely passed a Republican dominated Congress, the chance of it passing the Senate is slim to none.

What started off in the House as Helen of Troy will look like Troy Tulowitzki of NBA fame by the time the Senate does its work. No offense, Mr. T. I have no clue what you actually look like. The only other Troy I could think of was Troy Donahue of 60's TV fame. If anything, he was prettier than Helen of Troy, so the comparison using him does not work.

If you are looking for standards of prettiness,

Sven - I assume you mean MLB fame. Tulowitzki plays for the Toronto Blue Jays.
