Forgot to include form 1116. What now?

I sent my federal return by mail a few weeks ago. Foreign tax credit on 1040 line 47 was about $2000. I just discovered that I neglected to include 1116.
Should I just wait? Will they contact me?

Not a tax guy, but if you don't owe anything, you can wait for them to contact you.
If you owe something, amend return right away.

Don't amend too right away. It'll just screw things up.

I would call the toll-free number and let the CSR know that you did not submit the form with your return. Ask them to record the omission on your tax return info.
You can ask what you should do, but I would wait and see if you receive a math error notice regarding the credit. This would not be an amended return, it would be an additional submission of missing/requested information.
